SMGO Capital is one of the first search funds in Central Europe. SMGO focuses on smaller and medium-sized markets in a more sensitive way than traditional Private Equity funds, or strategic investors. You can read more about the benefits of this model and SMGO in Our Offer section.
SMGO was established by Tomáš Zbyňovský during his MBA studies in France and Singapore. At INSEAD (Financial Times), Tomáš started to explore the search fund model more intensively, as it was the answer to succession problem for ageing population of successful post-communism era entrepreneurs across Central Europe.
Tomas has more than 8 years of experience as a strategic advisor and manager across the EMEA region. He worked primarily for family businesses, startups and investment clients on post-acquisition and growth strategy projects, operational optimization, analytics and due diligence, within consulting houses like Deloitte or Roland Berger, but also boutiques/start-ups like Mennheim Associates or Futurelytics. He also led a 200+ member team at Amazon.
Martin Komínek has over 10 years of experience within M&A, restructuring and operational management. He has worked with both manufacturing and trading companies across CEE and Germany, mostly in energy, engineering, IT, pharma, online, and production industries, ranging from millions to hundreds of millions of euros.
Martin has managed or supported the restructuring of Schnell Motoren AG, Technistone, eD System and Peníze.cz (which he led to a successful exit as an executive director). He is a board member of the energy-engineering group Tedom. Martin graduated from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the University of Economics in Prague.
